"I made this piece because I was processing the grief around losing my identity at work when I quit my job in a stressful administrative role in a healthcare company. I spent 5 years pretending and performing only to find myself having to start over. I felt like I was left with this mask, meant to protect me and keep me safe, but it was just a way to hide who I really was. I was trying to project normalcy and competence and hide exhaustion and sadness."
