“My Unwelcome Journey of Grief” began in March 2024 after the unexpected deaths within 2 months of my aunt/sister/friend (AKA Twigster) and my dad (AKA Big Len). But in November of that year, during KEXP’s “Music Heals: Grief” day of special programming, my healing journey found its way to my art. Inspired by Twigster’s photo albums filled with snapshots of her travels in the 1960s-70s and Big Len's photos and contact sheets from the 1970s, I imagined using bits of the photos in pendants for my mixed media jewelry. Out of this inspiration, I created the ReCapture Collection, named for what they captured through photos and for what I "recaptured" in my art."
