"My work explores the guilt of being an adult who grew up in a small Nebraskan town and forgot to come back. I use self portraiture and video making as a way to tell my stories and thoughts, with the occasional supplemental poetry. Through these mediums, I can invite a viewer to experience exactly what I see and hear. Although grief can be beautiful in a singular written form, I find a connection with a viewer who can observe someone else's pain to be vital in that expression. I aim to create a space to be personal with strangers who are viewing me returning to my home after seven years, and what it meant for me to reconnect to the land, trees, and animals that shaped me."
