Borage (Borago officinalis) with its star shaped blue petals, is much loved by bees and sometimes referred to as bee borage. The young leaves taste like cucumber and the flowers are lovely frozen into cubes of ice in summer.
Historically it has been used to help treat urinary tract infections, cough, rheumatoid arthritis, menopause symptoms, and skin wounds. Its benefits are linked to the plant's anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Borage has been used to "exhilarate the mind", comfort the heart, drive sorrow away, and increase one's general happiness.
