Cherry / English laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) is used in traditional medicine for its sedative, antitussive (cough-suppressing), and antispasmodic properties, particularly in treating bronchitis, asthma, and digestive issues. While the fruits are consumed, the leaves and seeds are often distilled into medicinal water for treating pain, eczema, and insomnia due to their high antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. 

"This work explores the temptation to move closer to what feels good, even when it carries unseen harm. Sometimes we only recognize the toxicity after we’ve already stepped inside it. And sometimes, we come out of it different, or stronger.
The piece is part of a series called The Only Way Is Through, in which I reflect on different situations I’ve had to face. Each work is designed like a page from a children’s book. They represent moments from my own story, single pages that feel heavy on their own, but also temporary. If it’s just one page, I might be able to turn it and move forward."
