According to European folklore, Witch's Flying Oil contained a mixture of belladonna, henbane bell, jimson weed, black henbane, mandrake, hemlock, and wolfsbane. Most of these plants have hallucinogenic and psychoactive properties. Thus believed to help witches fly on their broomsticks. Though they can cause bodily flight and deathlike trances, and were often used in European folk medicine, they are considered to be very toxic and often lead to self-poisoning and fatal overdose.
