Bloodroot: Native to Eastern forests. Named for its red underground stem and roots, bloodroot was used by the native Cherokee as a dye for clothing and baskets. Bloodroot has been used at times as a treatment for infections, sore throats, and even skin cancer.  Bloodroot use on the skin and ingested may be toxic.
