Amanita is used topically for chronic pain in the form of balm. I know a network of herbalists in Eastern Europe who work with this plant a lot and need to ask them more about how they use it. When prepared properly to remove poisonous compounds, it has a history of psychoactive use, most well recorded among the Koryak of the Kamchatka Peninsula.
