"These pieces emerged from the question of, what does grief teach us, specifically with water as teacher? As a brown, queer, mad and disabled femme, the last several years has been full of grief and water has continuously offered a space to soften. Perhaps more importantly, water reminds me that surrender is deeply important; that it sometimes takes you to where you need to go. There is space to feel, to pause, to burrow into the fertile ground of possibility, to breathe, to cocoon. Instead of shame, I've learned to embrace all parts of me--even the depression, the suicidality--as a form of reclaiming agency over my bodymind in a world that seeks to control every part of it. This is ultimately an affirmation of my grief as sacred."
