Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
Medicinal properties: Yarrow (Achillea Millefolium) is native throughout the Northern hemisphere, including in Seattle at saltwater beaches, dry meadows, and sunny disturbed areas like vacant lots, railroad tracks and highway edges. Flat clusters of tiny, whitish-pink flowers appear mostly in June through October. Young blooms and leaves have been used medicinally for centuries due to strong anti-inflammatory, astringent and antiseptic properties that can staunch bleeding, prevent wound infections and reduce fevers.
