"Acceptance" is supposed to be the final stage. But I still don't accept it. I still talk to her in my mind, I still think of how she'd think of me now. At maximum, the traditional Victorian mourning period lasted at 2 years. It's been 13 and I don't want to accept it, I can't. The process of grieving has only folded in on itself. I can't get rid of the objects, the memory, or believe there's no one on the other end of the phone. I have been forced to accept that life never tucks a perfect square away into the file cabinet labeled "box of the dead." It's now a part of the never-ending circle, the flat one, just like on TV.
