"As an artist living with chronic pain, my work is greatly inspired by the human body: its systems, sensations, symptoms, and functions. My hope in any work I do is that I can reach others who have been impacted by invisible diseases, giving them a window to grieve what once was, but to also see what can be.
My two pieces, Whoosh and Hunch, are reflections of a body that I both love and feel betrayed by. A body that carries stories from a less painful time for my joints; a body that wears scars from surgeries; a body that grew a baby; a body that birthed a baby and lost a lot of blood; a body that breastfed; a body that dances; a body that tricks itself into thinking something is on fire; a body that loves being held, sometimes. On my best days, I love this body–
But if I’m being honest, I grieve pieces of this body often."
