Some in vitro (laboratory) studies have indicated that extracts from the mushroom might possess anti-tumor properties, such as decreasing cancer cell viability and inhibiting tumor growth without high toxicity to normal cells. The Amethyst Deceiver is a well-known accumulator of heavy metals, particularly arsenic. Eating it regularly or from contaminated soil (e.g., near old mines) can pose a serious health risk.
