"These works explore grief as both absence and residue. I’m studying the empty spaces left by people, relationships, possibilities, and former versions of myself and others. The poem "for then, for now, for always" inspired the painting, Agency,” which depicts the moment after the flame has been deliberately extinguished by the speaker: grief remains in the smoke, but so does the power to choose release."
