"This painting is part of a series I made in response to the murders of Black and Brown people by police officers. Highly publicized and protested earlier in the decade, these murders have largely receded from the public eye, replaced by ICE atrocities--themselves abetted by some local police forces. Cops have a flag that celebrates the "thin blue line" representing their distinction as community defenders. This painting interrogates that premise, just as the unjustified and largely unpunished crimes of uniformed felons ignores it."
