"The swan is easily recognized as an archetype of romantic love, often imagined alongside a lifelong soulmate. Here, she is portrayed alone, without her counterpart. As time slowly erodes the heaviness of the grief we carry, we begin to recognize its company not as something to fear or turn away from, but as something to befriend and allow to sit beside us.
Looking deeply into grief, we find fragments of tender memories: people we have lost, moments frozen in time, or a past love that solidified forever in our hearts as a whisper.
When we allow grief to become something familiar rather than something that suffocates us, we become something new and vulnerable, learning to tend to ourselves with patience and tenderness. Though the swan longs for a family again, she is still becoming in its absence."
