"The work starts with a copper intaglio print based on a memory of my father who died fourteen years ago. The plate is slowly melted down and printed at each stage of the process, resulting in abstract highly textured images that bear no resemblance to the original image. Once the printing has been completed, the remnants of the print plate are turned into a set of heavy brooches that are slightly awkward to wear. This work explores the way that memories change and decay over time and ask us what it means to honour a memory and to carry someone forward with us."
