"Grief over the loss of a general faith in the arts can sometimes equal a loved one's passing. "World/Worm" uses the symbolism of owl skulls and books (Athena, goddess of wisdom), mushrooms (poisonous "fool's caps"), poppies (metaphorical "sleep") and a worm (physical and mental death) as a vanitas still-life to remind us that life is fleeting and should be lived fully. The arts give us this lesson and this experience."
