Tara Kraft loves paint. And ink. And rocks. She thinks of her work as geology in fast-forward, building up layers and scraping back textures and colors, allowing the characteristics of a material to interact with her intentions in an ever-alluring play of forces. Her loving study of rocks connects her to eons of geologic time, placing the work on a larger, epochal scale that dwarfs humanity’s existence even as it calls us to confront our outsized effects.

Tara draws inspiration from her home in the Pacific Northwest, where she enjoys hiking and skiing.
