"I let the natural lines from this old piece of wood dictate what wanted to be there, and a story unfolded. My Father was an officer in the U.S. Navy, and met my Mother in Japan sometime in the mid-to-late 1950's. I wanted the atmosphere and colors to feel as if from that time period. In my research I found that all the corals I chose to portray are from Southern Japan where my parents met.
This is the story of them meeting, that is, if my Father was a deep sea diver and my Mother a Japanese mermaid. Here they are together, "Forever."
