Amanda Gemmill-Strauss is a multidisciplinary artist working in embroidery and fiber arts. Originally from Florida, she earned a BA in Creative Writing from University of Central Florida and was taught embroidery by generations of women in her own family starting as a child. Her artworks often contain secondhand and repurposed items, using old textiles, ephemera, and craft tools themselves as the focus. She has taken part in group exhibitions in Florida and the Seattle area. She lives and works in Federal Way, WA.
