As layers of encaustic gathered over the photograph, certainty dissolved. Wax softened edges the way time softens recollection, allowing something quieter to emerge. What had been a landscape became an emotional one. Living beside Hood Canal has changed the way I understand beauty. Light never stays where it first appears. The tide erases what it has just revealed.
